What is a Semla?
A semla is a traditional Swedish sweet bun flavored with cardamom, filled with almond paste and whipped cream, and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar.
At our event, Fika Bakeshop & Kitchen will set up a table with all the traditional semla components so everyone can build their semla exactly to their taste.
The semla is traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday (Fettisdagen), which comes just before Lent. In Sweden today, semlor are so beloved that people happily enjoy them throughout the entire semla season which starts in January and goes well into early spring.
