– bowl and lid, with lid base-coated and pattern traced on it
– artist-quality paint brushes (for you to keep)
– paint
– disposable palette
You will leave the class with the finished project shown here – a 5-1/2″ diameter wooden lid that fits on a glass storage bowl. The pattern is inspired by JoSonja Jansen, a famous Rosemaler in Eureka, CA.

About our teacher: Shaun Sasaki was introduced to folk art painting by a family friend in the 1970s and began classes in folk art in the 1980s. In the 1990s she took lessons in German folk art from Carl Larson, a much loved local teacher. She also studied several different styles of folk art including Swedish, Russian and Dutch.
As she progressed, she became interested in Rosemaling and became a student and friend of Margret Utzinger, who wrote one of the first books on Rosemaling with Sigmund Arseth of Norway. She has also taken Rosemaling classes from other American Rosemalers as well as from teachers from Norway. She has been teaching Rosemaling for 9 years and is a member of the California Rosemaling Association and the Daughters of Norway in Cupertino.
